AMD EPYC server supply

The EPYC side of the rack range: single- and dual-socket AMD models in 1U and 2U, plus the eight-GPU SR675 V3 that uses the platform's core density for AI training hosts.

Where EPYC earns its place

Core count per socket is the EPYC argument: the R7615's listed EPYC 9654 configuration and the R7715's 5th-generation EPYC platform put very high thread counts in a single 2U host, which suits virtualisation density, HPC and the data pipelines that feed GPU nodes. The SR675 V3 uses the same argument at the host of an eight-GPU system.

Memory follows the platform: current EPYC models in the range run DDR5, while the EPYC 7002 generation (SR655) is the value end on DDR4-era configurations. Both are live buying options; the right one depends on whether the order expands an existing fleet or starts a new one.

Comparing platforms fairly

Price the same brief — cores, memory, storage, accelerators — in one Xeon line and one EPYC line. The quotes come back in the same format from this desk, and the platform decision becomes arithmetic instead of allegiance.

Questions buyers ask

Is EPYC better for virtualisation?

For density per host, the high core counts make a strong case; licencing models that charge per core can reverse it. The quote stage is where both effects are priced.

Which EPYC generation is current in your range?

The listings span the 7002 series to the 5th-generation EPYC platform in the R7715 — each model page states its own platform.
